8. YUKIO
Shiori Kutsuna’s character was a big secret leading up to Deadpool 2’s launch, with fans assuming she was Surge. Surge was a member of the New Mutants in the 2000s. The jury was out, with most people believing she was a member of Deadpool’s X-Force, but this wasn’t the case.
Yukio was Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend and a new member of the X-Men. Although she didn’t play a big role, her and Deadpool’s interactions were great.
Yukio is a different character in the comics. She is not a mutant but is a trusted friend of the X-Men. She first appeared in Wolverine #1 and appeared on-screen in The Wolverine (Rila Fukushima). In the comics, she was a Japanese Assassin who took in Logan’s adopted daughter Amiko, although the two were enemies in the beginning. She was also a close friend of Storm.
It is unclear about the extent of her abilities in Deadpool 2, but her ability to electrify objects helped hold Juggernaut back. What link these characters have is unknown, if there is any link at all.
