9. NEGASONIC TEENAGE WARHEAD
Negasonic Teenage Warhead was a surprise hit character in 2016’s Deadpool. She shined in her edginess and showed us our first new taste of mutants in training. (Yes, it is hard to believe that the X-Men actually mentor new mutants, rather than throw them into the fire.) Brianna Hildebrand appeared in the Deadpool 2 as well and jumped in during the final battle to assist Deadpool and Cable in defeating the Juggernaut and saving Firefist.
Not only has she developed as a character and is a full team member now, she also has a dry, sarcastic personality to balance Deadpool’s over-the-top quirkiness.
She was so good in the first film, that Negasonic returned to comics in Deadpool & the Mercs for Money #1, by Cullen Bunn and Iban Coello, after her untimely death in New X-Men #115. Negasonic is now an official member of the X-Men and has a girlfriend named Yukio. (Something fans yearned to see in the sequel.) It marked the first time that a superhero’s LBGT sexuality made it onto the big screen.
Although she didn’t get much screen time, she was still brilliant and proves that she is one spunky fireball. Although she departed the film rather hastily, she and Yukio helped Deadpool repair Cable’s time travel device in an end credits scene, allowing Deadpool to right some previous wrongs.
