8 Reasons to Stay Optimistic About DC Universes ‘Titans’

Character Development

The Dick Grayson in the trailer isn’t the character fans know. He isn’t the wisecracking smartass young hero who is the polar opposite of Batman. This version is darker than Batman. However, this provides an opportunity for the writers to build onto that. Geoff Johns recently explained the idea behind the different Dick Grayson:

Titans is really a series about these different characters that are all lost in their lives; just like the greatest comic book Titans run ever, by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, it’s about all these lost characters find one another. And they’re all struggling with something, and Robin is clearly struggling with his past with Batman.”

We will see the optimistic Dick Grayson which will come at the end of Season 1, once he puts the past behind him. Along with that, this looks to be the stepping stone toward Grayson’s next alter ego, Nightwing.

As for the other characters, we know very little. Raven appears to be struggling with her demons, and maybe even her father. This provides an arc for her to change from feeling like an outcast to part of a team as well. More information should drop soon about the rest of the cast.
