#6 – The Runaway Bride (2006)

The Runaway Bride is Catherine Tate’s entrance into Doctor Who, but it wasn’t until a season later where she became a full-time companion.

The episode revolves around the Empress of the Racnoss: a spider-like species: trying to wake up her children from the Earth’s core.

It’s an episode filled with fun, laughter and sentiment. Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble starts off as an arrogant loud-mouth but her time with The Doctor opens her eyes to the wonders around, and she also pulls The Doctor away from the creeping darkness after he lost Rose Tyler.

The Runaway Bride is the second best Christmas special written by Russell T. Davies.

#5 – A Christmas Carol
