#9 – The Return of Doctor Mysterio (2016)

Steven Moffat’s homage to the Superhero genre at Christmas saw the birth of the Ghost: a Superhero whose powers are similar to Superman’s and whose costume looks to be pulled from a DC comic.

The episode sees an Alien species trying to replace our brains with their theirs.

It also intertwines a love story known to most Comic Book fans: the geek who is helplessly in love with the ‘Girl Next Door’ type.

Grant (Justin Chatwin) reveals himself to Lucy (Charity Wakefield) Image from BBC.

The Return of Doctor Mysterio is a love letter to Superheroes, especially Richard Donner’s Superman, but it doesn’t do much more.

It introduces several new characters but the story only served to show how his ending with River Song affected The Doctor.

The villains could have been better too but the soundtrack was reminiscent of the classic series and it’s one that’s easy to rewatch.

#8 – The Snowmen
